From 25–29 April 2018, a small delegation of INOSAAR members, including one representative from RepAfrika (the youth-led auxiliary fellowship of the INOSAAR), will be going to the highly symbolic site of Gorée Island in Senegal to participate in a symposium and march for reparations (‘Konwva pou Réparasyon’ in Martinique creole).

This event is being organized by the International Movement for Reparations (MIR), based in Martinique in the French Caribbean, and will coincide with the 170th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the French colonies (27 April 1848). Gorée Island is home to the UNESCO world heritage site, the House of Slaves and the Door of No Return, which is said to memorialize the final exit point of those who were enslaved from Africa.
