En février 2007, le député de Central Clarendon, Mike Henry, demande au Parlement d’adopter une position commune au sujet de l'impact de l'esclavage et de la question de la «réparation pour les pays des descendants de l'esclavage».Un comité spécial est établi pour examiner la résolution et recommander des actions, mais il se dissout à la fin de la session parlementaire. La résolution de Henry marque néanmoins un premier pas vers une action parlementaire coordonnée pour les réparations en Jamaïque.
